MCE for Savelugu launches Solar Streetlight Project

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Savelugu Municipality,  Honorable Alhassan Fuseini (Bagaman) has today, Monday, April 13, 2026 launched 'The Solar Street Light Project'.

According to the MCE, his outfit sent a letter to the Ministry of Education and Green Transition, requesting for street lights. He said the ministry heeded to their request and provided them with four hundred and forty-six (446) solar powered street lights. 
He has since thanked the President of the republic, HE President John Dramani Mahama, and the sector minister, Honorable John Jinapor for the gesture.

Speaking during the launch, Honorable Fuseini said the presence of the solar powered street lights will drastically reduce or eliminate crime and the illicit use of drugs within the municipality. 

Touching on measures put in place to ensure the safety of the streetlights, Bagaman revealed that there is a software embeded in them, that will aid the Ministry to track and monitor the functionality of the lights. He added that a taskforce will oversee the safety of the streetlights within the municipality. 

Meanwhile the MCE has hinted that another request will be made for more streetlights to be delivered to the Assembly. He called on areas that have not been covered to remain calm, adding that "development is a process." 

Honorable Fuseini Bagaman indicated that the next batch of streetlights will be mounted in such areas including the Savelugu Senior High School.
